Education: High School graduate or equivalent, prefer some higher education.
Skills & Experience: Good clerical skills and ability to work well with others in a courteous manner in stressful situations. Excellent telephone and customer service skills required. Healthcare experience and understanding of basic medical terminology preferred. Good communication with the public is vital.
Responsibilities include registration of ER, outpatient, and admissions including verification of medical necessity, properly coding of accounts, obtaining verification of insurance, and collection of co-pays. Obtaining charts from ER Department and copying for Physician Billing Service. Responsible for answering department telephones along with hospital main phone. Applicant must be able to work alone with little or no direct supervision and be able to work additional shifts as work flow necessitates.
