Administrator Debbie Franklin
Chief Executive Officer
Debbie has more than 45 years of healthcare experience with over 30 of those years being in leadership positions. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Masters degree in Health Education from Troy University. She has numerous continuing education courses in Risk, Quality Improvement and Leadership. She began her career as a new graduate RN at Mizell and served numerous roles in both nursing and organizational leadership. She most recently served as the Mizell Chief Quality and Risk Officer for 12 years before moving from that role to a risk consultant for an insurance company for the last 9 years of her career.
Outside of work, Debbie enjoys spending time with family and hosting activities at her and husband, Donnie's lake house. When not at the lake, they are following their grandchildren's activities across the state. She is the mother of two and grandmother of five whom she refers to as the "fabulous five".
Brennen Bowen, MSHA, RT (R)(ARRT)
Chief Operating Officer/ Chief Compliance Officer
Brennen is a Henry County, Alabama native and has served in various leadership roles over the past 15 year at multiple healthcare organizations.
A 2006 Headland High School alumnus, Brennen is a graduate of the Wallace Community College in Dothan where he received his Associates in Applied Sciences degree in Radiologic Technology and Associates degree in Biology. He also received Bachelor of Business Administration in Global Business Management degree from Troy University and Master of Science in Health Administration degree from the University of Alabama in Birmingham.
He has a history of being a well-rounded healthcare leader with special interests in employee engagement and satisfaction, multi-clinical relationship building, LEAN/SIX SIGMA waste reduction, new service-line implementation and providing quality patient healthcare to members of the community. Brennen has one child, Barrett.
Jana Wyatt
Chief Financial Officer
Jana Wyatt was born in Opp, AL in 1969 and is a graduate of Opp High School. Jana and her husband, Tim, have two daughters, Anna and Ashlyn. She is a graduate of Auburn University in Montgomery where she received her Bachelor of Science in Accounting. Jana also received her MBA from Troy University. She has more than 25 years of experience in healthcare accounting and finance.
Angela Smith, R.N.
Chief Nursing Officer
Angela has over 25 years of nursing experience. Angela attended Huntingdon College on a softball scholarship. After a career ending injury, she transferred to Alabama Southern Community College (now known as Coastal Community College) and there completed her RN training. She began her career at Providence Hospital in Mobile as a pediatric nurse where she developed a strong foundation in patient-centered care. In 2011, she and her family relocated to Opp, AL and she joined Mizell as a night shift charge nurse. She quickly advanced to the role of House Supervisor and spent 13 years in this role. She then joined the Emergency Room as a staff RN and later advanced to the role of Emergency Room Nurse Manager. In 2025, Angela was appointed the role of Chief Nursing Officer for Mizell.
Angela states that the one of the most rewarding parts of her career is mentoring and watching new nurses grow into confident, capable professionals. She believes that good leadership creates even better leaders and is passionate about fostering a supportive environment where nurses can thrive.
Angela is married and is the proud mother of 4 boys and the grateful grandmother to 2 grandchildren. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling to visit family. She and her family enjoy vacationing in the mountains and touring Civil War battlefields.
